Images of Christingle 2020
We are a little group of knitters and crocheters from Studham, we used to meet up in the Red Lion for a knit n natter until lockdown....during lockdown we made over 1,000 poppies, which were used for the curtain (to emulate the Tower of London display) and for the railings we also used blue in gratitude to the NHS and purple for the animals in service that died....the white is for peace.
At this time of the year we normally show images of the fetes and the May Fair but as these events did not take place due to Covid-19 we have a collection of images showing displays supporting the NHS and key workers, Clap for Carers, the empty road to Whipsnade Zoo at Easter, the Parish Link being published on-line, empty churches, Home church and celebrating VE Day.
A very unusual visitor to Luton Airport on Tuesday 7th April was this Boing C-17-A transporter belonging to the RAF. It had come from Brize Norton and was practicising landing at the otherwise empty airport. It flew over the villages 9 times before returning to Brize Norton. These views were taken as it flew over Holywell Road, Studham.
